Help and Support

This is a section contains help and resources for other families who are going through a similar experience to ours. It is also a resource for people who are wanting to connect more with their own suffering. I think there will be something in it that will catch the interest of nearly every reader. There will be links to various charities, organisations, therapeutic support, books, articles, web sites. Please feel free to send me more links and info that I can post up here for others to benefit from.

Thanks, Sheila x

Thank you sincerely for sharing these resources Sheils – and for all your posts, full of life, colour and Bolandness 🙂

    Books for Children
Each Breath A Smile by Thich Nhat Hahn (words by Sister Susan) is a very simple introductory book to mindfulness for young children.
Buddha at Bedtime by Dharmachari Nagaraja is a beautiful book for children. It includes a Metta/Loving Kindness meditation that you can do with the smallees and gorgeous stories based on compassion and wisdom
Lillibit’s Dream written by Melody Sullivan and illustrated by Stanislav Grof – a tale of metamorphosis and rebirth ( apparently it has always been Stan’s dream to be an animator/ illustrator, which he fulfilled here :))

Articles – I haven’t read this but given our shared love of Stan’s writing it may be one to engage with

The Ultimate Journey: Consciousness and the Mystery of Death: Stanislav Grof

    • Great recommendations, Julie. I am listening to Stan reading Lillibit’s Dream right now. It’s just exactly how I have planned to say things to Oisin and have been saying to him along the way as and when it feels right. Cilly too. I bought nothing short of a small library of books last week and now I have some welcome additions. Hope they are of help to others. I will reblog on my help and support page. x
